Customer: Jernbaneverket (the Norwegian National Rail Administration), Norway
Jernbaneverket is responsible for 4114 kilometer railway tracks distributed all over the country, which is loaded with traffic from 1450 trains. In one day 826 trains pass the Central Station in Oslo. This requires that Jernbaneverket offers a safe and efficient transportation system regardless of population, distance, traffic volume, weather conditions, etc. The infrastructure is divided into different areas covering power supply, signaling, telecommunications, superstructure and substructure.
The maintenance project started with a request to get control of all infrastructure and improve the monitoring of preventive maintenance. They use the maintenance management system Maximo, which until now is the largest Maximo installation in Norway. Today there are close up to 650 000 devices registered in the system and they use our mobile solution, based on Syclo's mobile platform, for preventive and corrective maintenance. So far they have about 450 users, but they aim to have everyone working out in the field using the mobile solution in their daily work. A ROI analysis ("Return On Investment") indicates that each distance has increased their savings by using mobile equipment and the quality of the data are considerably improved.
Path has since 2001 been in charge of service, development, training and user support in cooperation with employees at Jernbaneverket.
